Week Ahead | Trade Wars and BoE in Focus with Draghi on the Spotlight

Monday

  • EUR ECB President Draghi's Speech Speech
  • FED’s William Dudley Speech, FOMC Member William Speech

After the multiple months EUR/USD declining last week, investors and online traders shall certainly have expectation of its recovery since ECB President Mario Draghi will be having couple of speech this week beginning from today. From US, Fed’s Dudley and FOMC member John Williams will be having speech later today.

Tuesday

  • AUD RBA Meeting's Minutes
  • EUR ECB President Draghi's Speech
  • Fed's Bullard speech
  • USD Housing Starts, USD Building Permits

Second day of the week, for people who do business in EUR and AUD, RBA meeting’s minutes report will be released early in the morning, afternoon once again ECB President Mario Draghi will be having consecutive second speech in terms of supporting EUR, since the Trade policy between EU and US is affecting EUR, along with that from US side we will be having Fed’s Bullard speech.

Wednesday

  • JPY BoJ Monetary Policy Meeting Minutes
  • USD Fed's Powell Speech
  • EUR ECB President Draghi's Speech
  • AUD RBA's Governor Philip Lowe Speech

Third day and busiest day of the week, looks like couple of central banks heads have decided to support their country’s currency at their level best, from the beginning of the day we are going to have Bank of Japan monetary policy meeting minutes report, Fed’s Powell will be giving another speech since he has given previous statement that he would be giving speech every time after the interest rate hike, third consecutive speech from ECB President Mario Draghi in one week, we can surely expect some positive signs in terms of EUR recovery from multiple months lows. And during the end of the Day RBA governor Philip Lowe speech.

Thursday

  • NZD Gross Domestic Product
  • CHF SNB Interest Rate Decision, SNB press conference
  • GBP BoE Asset Purchase Facility, BoE Interest Rate Decision, Monetary Policy Summary, MPC Vote Cut, MPC Vote Unchanged, MPC Vote Hike, BoE Minutes
  • USD Jobless Claims, Housing Price Index

Looks like the day is for UK and Switzerland, though New Zealand will be releasing its GDP report for first quarter, still the focus of the day could some major market moving from some Swiss and British data, after NZD GDP report, Swiss national bank will be releasing its interest decision report along with Press conference, later during afternoon UK will be releasing its number of reports, since last week we have noticed the big declining in GBP/USD, got affected by some political issues in UK, or its base currency US dollar got boost. After UK reports US will be releasing its continuing Jobless claims and initial jobless claims along with its housing price index as finisher of the Day.

Friday

  • EUR Markit PMI Composite, Markit Services, Markit Manufacturing PMI
  • CAD Retail Sales, Bank of Canada Consumer Price Index Core
  • USD Markit Services PMI, Markit PMI Composite

And as finisher of the week on Friday will be having German, Eurozone, Canadian and American reports, from the beginning of the day Germany and Eurozone will be releasing its Markit service PMI and Markit composite PMI, since Germany is the power house of the entire Europe so obviously data and reports are going to move European market in terms of strengthening and weakening its currency afternoon we will be having Canadian retail sales and CPI reports, later in the evening US will be releasing its Markit Service PMI and Markit PMI composite, these reports and data don’t look like major market mover but we can still expect some volatility since it’s the weekend.
