Week Ahead | Brexit, ECB, and FED will Drive the Market

Monday

•             Germany EUR trade balance

•             USD Factory Orders

Germany January trade balance is a balance between exports and imports of total goods and service It is an event that generates some volatility for the EUR. Market consensus suggests the USD factory order growth is likely to shrink by -0.6% versus prior growth.

 

Tuesday

•             AUD Home loans

•             CHF Unemployment rate

The Home Loans released presents the number of home loans. It indicates the housing market trend in Australia and a level of consumer confidence as large housing loans are taken out. The Unemployment Rate released it indicates a lack of expansion within the Swiss labor market. As a result, a rise leads to weaken the Swiss economy

 

Wednesday

•             ECB Interest rate decision and statement

•             USD consumer price index & FOMC minutes

ECB Interest Rate Decision is announced by the European Central Bank. Usually if the ECB is hawkish about the inflationary outlook of the economy and rises the interest rates there could be a significant strength over the Euro Currency. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) Ex Food & Energy released is a measure of price movements by the comparison between the retail prices of a representative shopping basket of goods and services. The Federal Open Market Committee will release determines the appropriate stance of monetary policy and assesses the risks to its long-run goals of price stability and sustainable economic growth

•             CNY consumer price index

•             Germany EUR Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices

The Consumer Price Index is released The CPI is a key indicator to measure inflation and changes in purchasing trends. HICP is an index of consumer prices, HICP is a measure of prices used by Governing Council of EU to define and assess price stability in the euro area as a whole in quantitative terms.

 

Friday

•             GBP Brexit deadline

•             US Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index

The deadline for the UK to pass a deal to leave the European Union, as the two-year period from invoking Article 50 expires. The move is a result of the EU Referendum in 2016. The US Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index released is a survey of personal consumer confidence in economic activity. It shows a picture of whether or not consumers are willing to spend money.
